PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode catalyst with higher oxygen reduction activity compared with a conventional one by providing the electrode catalyst suitable as a catalyst for oxygen reduction, and a gas diffusion electrode at low overvoltage. SOLUTION : The electrode catalyst is a composite catalyst of rare earth oxide particulate and silver particulate carried on a conductive carrier.
