简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a magnet and a rotary machine that not only solve problems caused by split magnets, but also have an optimum coercive force distribution (residual flux density distribution). SOLUTION : A magnet 31 has a surface 34 adjoining a stator 11. When a rotary machine 1 functions as a motor, a demagnetizing field is applied to an opposite-side part of the surface 34 in a rotating direction R shown in Fig. 2 during rotation in the rotating direction R. When the rotary machine 1 functions as a dynamo, the demagnetizing field is applied to a part of a rotor 21 on a side in the rotating direction R. In those cases, the demagnetizing field has a maximum value at the part of the surface 34 of the magnet 31, and decreases inwardly in the magnet 34. The demagnetizing field having such a distribution is applied to the magnet 31, so a diffusion area 32 is formed at a part of the surface 34. In the diffusion area 32, a heavy rare-earth element such as Dy and Tb is diffused inwardly from the surface 34 and coercive force decreases inwardly from the surface.
