PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a sand collecting apparatus for settling basin which enables reduction of the total installation number of nozzle headers and maximum utilization of the capacity of a water supply pump by using water supply pumps having the same capacity in settling basins having the same length.
SOLUTION : In the sand collecting apparatus where the bottom surface of the settling basin is divided into a plurality of regions, a nozzle header formed by mounting many nozzles at predetermined intervals is installed in each region and along the side wall of the settling basin, water is sequentially supplied from the water supply pump to nozzle headers through sand collecting valves in a state where water in the settling basin is discharged, thereby washing down earth and sand deposited on the bottom surface of the settling basin to a trough formed in the bottom surface of the settling basin to collect them into a sand collecting pit, formed in the bottom of the settling basin, through the trough, the bottom surface from the upstream side end to downstream side end of the settling basin is divided into an odd number in the water flow direction in the settling basin at least on one side of the trough to form regions having the almost same area, and one nozzle header is installed to each of the regions.
