PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fiber laser capable of suppressing a heat from a double-clad fiber and effectively obtaining a laser output. SOLUTION : The fiber laser comprises a double-clad fiber with its core added by a rare earth element surrounded by an inside clad and an outside clad, a means for entering a signal light to the core of the double-clad fiber, and a means for entering an excitation light having a wavelength different from that of the signal light to the core of the double-clad fiber or to the inside clad. In the fiber laser structured to enter the signal light and the excitation light from one end side of the double-clad fiber and to output the light with the wavelength of the signal light laser excited from the other end side, the double-clad fiber is wound not less than one turn with a small winding diameter at the immediate after the one end side with the excitation light entered, and is wound not less than one turn with a diameter larger than the small winding diameter at the other end side.
