PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a new material for synthesizing ammonia having higher performances.
SOLUTION : The material for synthesizing ammonia is used for the reaction of synthesizing ammonia from nitrogen and hydrogen, the reaction comprising two thermochemical steps of (1) a nitride production step of converting an ammonia synthesizing material into a nitride by using nitrogen and (2) an ammonia synthesis step of synthesizing ammonia from the obtained nitride and hydrogen. The material comprises an alloy or a composite material containing at least one selected from a group consisting of iron, cobalt and nickel as a first component and at least one selected from a group consisting of rare earth elements as a second component.
