PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a powder of a rare earth alloy, which can produce the powder of the rare earth alloy that has superior magnetic properties by using a HDDR method, and besides has a demagnetization curve of high rectangularity.
SOLUTION : The production method includes : the first hydrogen occlusion step for making a raw alloy occlude hydrogen (step S13); the first hydrogenation decomposition (HD) step for hydrogenating and decomposing the raw alloy to obtain the first decomposition product (step S14); the first hydrogen desorption and recombination (DR) step for making the first decomposition product release hydrogen to obtain the first powder of the rare earth alloy (step S16); an inert-gas cooling step for cooling the first powder of the rare earth alloy (step S17A); the second hydrogen occlusion step for making the first powder of the rare earth alloy occlude hydrogen (step S18); the second HD step for hydrogenating and decomposing the first powder of the rare earth alloy to obtain the second decomposition product (step S19); and the second DR step for making the second decomposition product release hydrogen to obtain the second powder of the rare earth alloy (step S21).
