PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a member for performing greening on the sea which utilizes the sea occupying 70% of the area of the earth; and to provide a greening method.
SOLUTION : The greening member can be floated on the water with its bottom surface getting in touch with the water surface, and allows plants to be placed on its top surface. The greening member is provided with a buoyant cover layer, a reverse osmosis membrane layer through which seawater is changed into fresh water, a water-holding layer which holds the fresh water, and a cover layer on which the plants are placed, sequentially from below. The greening method for water surfaces includes : a process for floating the greening member on the water with its bottom surface of the greening member getting in touch with the water surface; and a process for placing plants on the top surface of the greening member.
