A method and device for handling uplink/downlink Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) process in a wireless relay network. The method includes that a base station schedules uplink or downlink data of a relay station in advance before handling relay receiving instruction from the relay station, wherein the relay receiving instruction indicates whether the relay station receives the uplink or downlink data correctly, therefore the relay station can forward the data immediately or at a proper time point in no distant future after receiving the data correctly from a data resource such as the base station, therefore the delay is reduced. If the relay station cannot receive the data correctly unfortunately, then the resources allotted in advance scheduling by the base station will not be released again in general, but because the state that the data cannot be received correctly is rare, the resulted idle resources are very limited. |
