PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp having made an attempt to reduce the number of starter parts to be arranged within an outer tube, to aim at downsizing, to improve precision of positions where the parts are disposed, etc., in a lamp adopting a start-up scheme by ultraviolet irradiation, and a lighting system mounting the discharge lamp.
SOLUTION : The high-pressure discharge lamp L1 in which a light-emitting tube 1A sealed within the outer tube 5 has a discharge vessel comprising a bulge part, introduction conductor, and small-diameter cylindrical parts 12a, 12b and on at least one side of the small-diameter cylindrical parts 12a, 12b, a rare gas-sealed hermetical small vessel part isolated from the inside of the discharge vessel is provided, and the introduction conductor penetrating the inside of the hermetical small vessel part is used as an internal electrode, and which includes an ultraviolet generation source 2 for start-up formed on the outer periphery of the small-diameter cylindrical parts 12a, 12b forming the hermetical small vessel part and at the same time, configured by an external electrode 60 connected to electricity supply members 6a, 6b at a potential different from that of the introduction conductor, and the lighting system mounting the discharge lamp L1.
