PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a particle beam therapy apparatus narrowing the range of a site of malfunction causing abnormality of a leaf within the apparatus when the abnormality of the leaf is detected.
SOLUTION : The particle beam therapy apparatus includes : a leaf abnormality detecting part 12 for detecting occurrence of abnormality of a leaf position based on a drive control signal SD and a leaf position signal SP; a simulated signal output part 43 for generating a simulated signal SS suggesting that the leaf position is normal; and a signal switching part 42 for switching the signal output to a prescribed part either to the simulated signal SS or to the leaf position signal SP. When the leaf abnormality detecting part 12 detects the abnormality of the leaf position, the signal output to the prescribed part is switched to the simulated signal SS, and the leaf abnormality detecting part 12 is made to re-detect the presence of abnormality of the leaf position. The particle beam therapy apparatus also includes a malfunction range diagnosing part 13 for diagnosing the range of the malfunction site which may cause the abnormality of the leaf position based on the result of detection of whether abnormality is detected or not in the re-detection and the position in the input/output of signals within the apparatus.
