PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To simplify a circuit constitution of a flash lamp lighting device.
SOLUTION : The flash lamp lighting device 1 drives a flash lamp A, having an arc tube with rare gas being sealed therein. A first electrode A1 and a second electrode A2 are arranged mutually facing inside the arc tube, and a trigger electrode A3 is provided outside the arc tube close by the arc tube. The flash lamp lighting device 1 includes a capacitor C1, a DC power source V1 for charging the capacitor C1, a silicon symmetric switch S, a switch SW, and a trigger transformer T. The switch SW interrupts one electrode of the capacitor C1, the first electrode A1 and one end of the silicon symmetric switch S. The other end of the silicon symmetric switch S is connected to one end of the primary winding T1 of the trigger transformer T, and the trigger electrode A3 is connected to one end of the secondary winding T2 of the trigger transformer T.
