PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rubber composition which has good processability, can improve rolling resistance characteristics and rubber strength in a good balance, and is used for the chafers of tires for heavy loads, to provide a rubber composition for the side walls of the tires for heavy loads, and to provide a tire for heavy loads, using at least one of two kinds of these rubber compositions.
SOLUTION : The rubber composition for chafers used for tires for heavy loads comprises 100 pts.mass of a rubber component comprising butadiene rubber modified with a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, R1, R2 and R3 are each identically or differently alkyl, alkoxy, silyloxy, acetal, carboxyl, mercapto or their derivatives; R4 and R5 are each identically or differently H, alkyl or cyclic ether; n is an integer), and butadiene rubber synthesized with a rare earth element-based catalyst, and 10 to 80 pts.mass of silica.
