简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus of which not only display quality but also a viewing angle characteristic are improved. SOLUTION : The liquid crystal display apparatus has a first polarizing film, a first retardation layer, a second retardation layer, a liquid crystal layer and a pair of substrates holding the liquid crystal layer therebetween and liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer are aligned in parallel with each other during black display. When Re(λ) denotes in-plane retardation of the first and second retardation layers at a wavelength λ and Rth(λ) denotes retardation in a thickness direction, Re/Rth(450nm), a ratio of Re to Rth in the first retardation layer at 450nm wavelength, is 0.4 to 0.95 times of Re/Rth(550nm) at the 550nm wavelength and Re/Rth(650nm) at 650nm wavelength is 1.05 to i.93 times of Re/Rth(550nm).
