PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a regenerating method of a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas capable of regenerating a catalytic activity by re-dispersing a platinum particle grain-grown by being exposed to an exhaust gas of a high temperature for a long period of time to a fine platinum particle in a short time even at a relatively low temperature area. SOLUTION : In the regenerating method of the catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas, an oxidation treatment for heating in an oxidation atmosphere containing oxygen and a reduction treatment are applied to the catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas provided with a carrier containing a composite oxide of zirconia and/or alumina and at least one element selected from the group consisting of an alkaline earth metal element, a rare earth element and a group 3A element; and platinum carried on the carrier.
