PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rubber composition for a sidewall, capable of achieving both cut-growth resistance and rolling resistance characteristic, and a pneumatic tire having a sidewall manufactured using the same.
SOLUTION : The rubber composition for a sidewall comprises a rubber component containing 5-95 mass% in total of a butadiene rubber modified by a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R1, R2 and R3 are identical to or different from each other and are each alkyl group, alkoxy group, silyloxy group, acetal group, carboxyl group, mercapto group or derivative thereof; R4 and R5 are identical to or different from each other and are each hydrogen atom, alkyl group or cyclic ether group; and n is an integer) and a butadiene rubber synthesized using a rare earth element catalyst.
