The invention relates to a retrofitting system for a vehicle (1), wherein a driver is supported in driving the vehicle (1). The retrofitting system is particularly suited for older vehicles (1), and also for vehicles (1) that were not originally equipped with a driver assistance system at the factory. The retrofitting system comprises a portable communication device (2) and at least one retrofitting component (9, 11, 23, 25, 26, 29, 30, 33, 34, 37, 39, 41, 44, 46, 49, 50, 53, 54), which can be installed subsequently in the vehicle (1) or mounted onto the vehicle (1), either detachably or non-detachably. The portable communication device (2) and the retrofitting component (9, 11, 23, 25, 26, 29, 30, 33, 34, 37, 39, 41, 44, 46, 49, 50, 53, 54) communicate with one another via respective communication interfaces (4, 9, 11, 23, 25, 26, 29, 30, 33, 34, 37, 39, 41, 44, 46, 49, 50, 53, 54), which is to say wirelessly. Said communication takes place independently of the communication busses (42) present in the vehicle (1); the portable communication device (2) communicates directly with the retrofitting component. As a result of the portable communication device (2) and the retrofitting component interacting by way of the data transmission, a function can be carried out, which supports the driver in driving the vehicle (1). |
