PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve light-off performance of a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas.
SOLUTION : The catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas includes at a catalyst layer first composite oxide particle components 4 containing Ce and Rh 8 and allowing a part of the Rh to be exposed on a particle surface and second composite oxide particle components 5 containing rare earth metals except Ce, Zr and Ce. The first composite oxide particle component 4 has a particle size distribution having a peak in a ≥100 nm and ≤300 nm of a particle diameter range. The second composite oxide particle component 5 has a particle size distribution having a peak in a particle diameter range larger than that of the first composite oxide particle component 4. At least a part of the particles of the first composite oxide particle components 4 are attached to at least a part of the particles of the second composite oxide particle components 5.
