PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing an environmental barrier coating for protecting CMC from a high temperature steam environment which exists in a gas turbine engine.
SOLUTION : The method for manufacturing an environmental barrier coating 12 using a sintering aid consists of a step of applying a bond coat layer 14 to a ceramic component 10, a step of manufacturing a transition layer slurry by mixing at least water and a main transition material which consists of a rare earth bisilicate or a dope rare earth bisilicate, similarly, a step of manufacturing an outer layer slurry by mixing a rare earth monosilicate, also similarly, a step for manufacturing a flexible layer slurry by mixing BSAS or a rare earth dope BSAS, a step of applying at least any one or more of the transition layer slurry, the outer layer slurry and the flexible layer slurry, and a step of forming at least any one or more of the bond coat layer, a transition layer 16 and an outer layer 20 or a flexible layer 18 by sintering the component.
