PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for improving the surface roughness of plasma spraying EBC.
SOLUTION : The method comprises : a step for preparing a component 10 having a plasma spraying environmental barrier coating; a step where an external layer 18 repair slurry is applied to the environmental barrier coating of the component; a step for drying the environmental barrier coating having the applied external layer repair slurry; and a step where the component is sintered so as to produce a component having improved surface roughness. The external layer repair slurry is composed of : water; a primary outer material made of BSAS; and a slurry sintering aid selected from the group consisting of a rare earth nitrate, a rare earth acetate, a rare earth chloride, a rare earth oxide, ammonium phosphate, phosphoric acid and polyvinyl phosphonic acid, and their combinations.
