PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide hydrogen storage alloy for an alkaline storage battery with excellent high output characteristics and an output stability, and a method for manufacturing the same.
SOLUTION : The hydrogen storage alloy for the alkaline storage battery is expressed with ABn (A : LaxReyMg1-x-y, B : Nin-zTz, Re : at least one element chosen from rare earth elements including Y (except for La), T : at least one element chosen from Co, Mn, Zn, and Al, and z>0), with stoichiometries n of 3.5-3.8, a ratio of La to Re (x/y) of 3.5 or less, and at least with A5B19 type of structure, and with an average C-axis length α of crystal lattice to be 30-41 Å.
