PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a garnet single crystal that is lead-free despite of using a platinum crucible for avoiding deleterious effects of lead on the environment, shows no quality deterioration, shows high mass productivity and is capable of achieving an IL of ≤0.10 dB.
SOLUTION : The Bi-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal is lead-free, contains ≥0.91-≤2.68 atppm Pt and further contains ≥2.54-≤4.0 atppm of at least one element chosen from Mn or a group 2 element.
