The invention relates to engine building and in particular to internal combustion engines that use the energy of an electromagnetic, magnetic and/or electric field as well as chemical catalysts containing rare metals to treat a gas mixture and initiate a combustion reaction thereof. The invention makes it possible to increase operating stability and reliability and reduce the energy required to ignite the fuel mixture. The microwave plasma engine includes at least one cylinder with a piston connected by a connecting-rod mechanism to the crankshaft of the engine, a microwave catalyst for activating the working mixture, and a high-voltage discharger for igniting the activated working mixture upon the compression thereof in the combustion chamber of the engine cylinder. The engine further includes a plasma reactor having a constant volume, an adiabatic plasma cooler and a slide valve connected by ducts to the upper and lower portions of the engine cylinder, which are connected in series in the flow direction of the reaction products of the working mixture. |
