PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an inorganic oxide in which the grain growth of a supported metal (rhodium or the like) is satisfactorily suppressed, an exhaust gas purification catalyst support comprising the same and an exhaust gas purification catalyst using the same. SOLUTION : In the particulate inorganic oxide containing aluminum oxide, a metal oxide which does not form a compound oxide with aluminum oxide and an additive element comprising at least one of a rare earth element and an alkaline earth element, the content of aluminum oxide is 15-40 mol% per total quantity of aluminum in the aluminum oxide, a metal element in the metal oxide and the additive element, ≥80% of the primary particle of the inorganic oxide has ≤100 nm particle diameter and at least a part of the primary particle has a surface layer part having a concentrated zone where the content of the additive element is locally increased.
