PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an engine controller capable of properly performing a purging operation on a rare purging occasion by detecting a fuel vapor concentration even after an engine is started and detecting the damage in a purge passage or the like.
SOLUTION : The engine controller practices, for a fuel vapor concentration measuring device, a shutoff pressure measuring process, an air pressure measuring process, a fuel vapor pressure measuring process carried out after the air pressure measuring process and the shutoff pressure measuring process are completed, a fuel vapor concentration calculating process based on the pressure measured through the air pressure measuring process and the fuel vapor pressure measuring process, and the fuel vapor pressure measuring process which is carried out during stopping the engine or when a given purging condition, after the engine is started, is not established and is interrupted when a given purging condition is established before the fuel vapor pressure measuring process ends and thereafter is carried out during the stop of the engine or when a given purging condition, after the engine is started, is not established.
