PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode material, an electrode, and an electrode member used for a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp, and to provide the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp and a liquid crystal display device.
SOLUTION : This cold-cathode fluorescent lamp 100 is equipped with a glass tube 102 which has a fluorescent layer 101 on the inner wall face and in which a rare gas and mercury are enclosed in the interior, and a pair of electrodes 103 arranged at both end parts in this glass tube 102. The electrodes 103 are made of nickel alloy in which Si, Al, at least one kind of element selected from an element group composed of Hf, Zr, V, Fe, Nb, Mo, Mn, W, Sr, Ba, B, Th, Be, Y, Mg, In and rare-earth elements are contained at the amount of 0.001 mass% or more and 5.0 mass% or less as a sum and the balance is made of Ni alloy composed of Ni and impurities. Since the electrodes 103 are constituted of the electrode material made of the nickel alloy with the composition instead of a nickel simple substance, discharge characteristics, oxidation resistance, sputtering-proofing, and reaction-resistance to mercury can be improved and high brightness and a longer life of the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp can be achieved.
