Converting sulfur compounds present in a gas comprising hydrogen sulfide and sulfur compounds, into hydrogen sulfide, comprises : (a) contacting the gas with a gas reductant in the presence of hydrogenation catalyst comprising cobalt, molybdenum and alumina support, where the content of cobalt and molybdenum calculated in oxide form is 3-25 wt.%, and the surface of the alumina is greater than 140 m 2>/g; and (b) contacting at least a fraction of obtained effluent gas with a catalyst comprising at least a compound of titanium oxide and zirconium oxide, and at least an alkaline-earth. Process for converting sulfur compounds present in a gas comprising hydrogen sulfide (H 2S) and sulfur compounds, into H 2S, comprises : (a) contacting the gas with a gas reductant in the presence of hydrogenation catalyst comprising at least cobalt, molybdenum and alumina support, where the content of cobalt and molybdenum calculated in oxide form is 3-25 wt.%, and the surface of the alumina is greater than 140 m 2>/g; and (b) contacting at least a fraction of obtained effluent gas with a catalyst comprising at least a compound of titanium oxide and zirconium oxide, and at least an alkaline earth, where the titanium oxide and/or zirconium oxide corresponds to more than 5 wt.% of the catalyst, the catalyst of step (b) is either in the form of oxide mass (not containing the oxides), or in the form of oxide, the total mass content of alkaline earth is 0.5-60 wt.%, and total mass of alkaline earth is 0.5-60 wt.%. |
