PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an R-T-B based sintered magnet having a low oxygen content at high productivity and production yield. SOLUTION : The method for producing an R-T-B based sintered magnet (wherein, R is one or more kinds of rare earth elements; and T is at least one or more kinds of transition metal elements essentially consisting of Fe or Fe and Co) comprises : a stage (a) where a raw material alloy is pulverized, so as to obtain raw material alloy powder; a stage (b) where alloy grains composing the raw material alloy powder are stuck with an organic liquid, so as to obtain granules; a stage (c) where the granules are subjected to press molding, so as to obtain a molding; and a stage (d) where the molding is sintered, wherein the content of oxygen in an atmosphere where the process from the stage (a) to the stage (d) is performed is controlled to ≤200 ppm.
