PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To enable a branch to grow downward so as to make a flower, tree, or the like more beautiful.
SOLUTION : After cutting off a branch of dendrobium with a knife, an upper end thereof is further cut off with the knife, and the upper end is placed upside-down in a water-filled glass so that the upper part is soaked in water and a part that used to be closer to a root is exposed to air. A shoot that is formed on the inverted branch placed in the glass is excised from the branch, together with its root part. The excised shoot having the root part is transplanted to a new pot filled with sphagnum moss. When the new shoot grows along with time, it grows downward with respect to the axis of the earth, i.e. toward the center of the earth, i.e. toward the direction of gravity of the earth.
