PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a practicable method with which rare metal can efficiently be produced by utilizing a mechanochemical reaction.SOLUTION : Rare metal oxide powder is mechanochemically reacted with silicon powder to obtain the rare metal and silicon oxide. As the rare metal oxide, the oxides of indium, tin and antimony, etc., can be used.
