PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a coating composition containing an effective corrosion-inhibiting amount of a carbon pigment.
SOLUTION : In one embodiment, the corrosion-inhibiting carbon pigment further contains, to enhance the corrosion resistance of a resultant coating film, other components such as extenders including neutral to slightly acidic generating extenders and acidic generating extenders, a rare earth compound, an amino acid and an amino acid derivative, a gelatin and a gelatin derivative, an organic exchange resin, and extenders containing a combination thereof. In one embodiment, the carbon pigment is a surface-modified carbon pigment. The coating composition has sufficient adhesion property relative to a substrate such as a metal including aluminum and an aluminum alloy.
