简介 The present invention involves manufacturing a starting material for a cerium-based abrasive agent by means of a step for dry milling a mixed rare earth oxide having a rare earth element content of 80% by mass or more in terms of oxides, and a cerium content of 50% by mass or more in terms of oxides relative to the rare earth element content in terms of oxides, said cerium-based abrasive agent comprising milled product having an untamped density of more than 0.60 g/cm3 and at most 1.50 g/cm3, and a cumulative 50% particle size volume distribution of 2-20 μm. The present invention also involves manufacturing a cerium-based abrasive agent by means of a manufacturing method which includes a step for pulverizing the starting material for the cerium-based abrasive agent.
