PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare gas fluorescent lamp which emits ultraviolet rays having a broad peak in a wavelength range of around 300 to 350 nm and is suitable as a light source to polymerize monomers filled together with liquid crystal.
SOLUTION : The rare gas fluorescent lamp is equipped with a pair of electrodes installed outside a light-emitting tube and a phosphor layer installed inside the light-emitting tube, and rare gas is sealed inside the light-emitting tube. The rare gas fluorescent lamp has the light-emitting tube composed of a glass in which main component is borosilicate glass and/or aluminosilicate glass, and transition metal oxide content is 1 to 5 wt.% while alkaline oxide content is 1 to 5 wt.%.
