PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve the weathering resistance of the top surface of a rare earth magnet alloy material without performing any plating or resin coating. SOLUTION : The weathering resistance of a rare earth magnet alloy is improved in such a method that the top surface of R-Fe-B-based or R-Fe-B-C-based rare earth magnet alloy (R is at least one kind of the rare-earth element, and Fe may be partly replaced with Co) is preferably brought in contact with the acid solution, followed by the solution containing fatty acid salt compound.
