PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing RTH-type zeolite by synthesis without using a structure directing agent.
SOLUTION : The method for producing RTH-type zeolite is characterized by performing hydrothermal synthesis of an aqueous mixture. The aqueous mixture includes a silica raw material, an alkali metal element and/or an alkaline-earth metal element, oxygen, silicon and at least one kind of hetero atom other than the alkali metal element and the alkaline-earth metal element, provided that the molar ratio of silica to the alkali metal element and/or the alkaline-earth metal element is in a range of 0.01-0.45. The aqueous mixture does not include a structure directing agent or includes it in a molar ratio of structure directing agent/Si of 0.018 or lower. RTH-type zeolite can be synthesized without using the structure directing agent and by causing a specified quantity of an alkali (or alkaline-earth) metal element to coexist.
