简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode catalyst with excellent joint property, high catalytic activity and a low cost in which eluting of a metal ion from a catalytic particle is less and radical decomposition of peroxides can be suppressed, its production method and a fuel cell using this. SOLUTION : The electrode catalyst is provided with an alloy containing Pt and metal M (provided that M is at least one selected from transition metal element, group III element and rare earth element); and phosphate and/or fluoride of the metal M fixed to the alloy surface. In this case, the content of phosphorus contained in the surface is preferably 0.05 at% or higher. Further, the content of fluorine contained in the surface is preferably 0.15 at% or higher.
