PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a free-cutting silicon brass alloy with high zinc which has extremely excellent castability, forgeability, machinability, weldability, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and electroplating properties, and whose cost is extremely low.
SOLUTION : The lead-free free-cutting silicon brass alloy comprises, by weight, 35.0 to 42.0% Zn, 0.1 to 1.5% Si, 0.03 to 0.3% Al, 0.01 to 0.36% P, 0.01 to 0.1% Ti, 0.001 to 0.05% rare earth elements selected from the group consisting of La and Ce, 0.05 to 0.5% Sn and or 0.05 to 0.2% Ni as an optional component, and the balance being Cu with inevitable impurities, in which the elongation of the casting alloy is more than 10%, the rigidity HRB lies in the range of 55 and 75, and also, the folding angle of the strip samples is larger than 55°.
