This invention provides a dielectric ceramic composed mainly of a BaTiO3-based compound and is represented by general formula [100AmBO3 + aNiO + bROn + cMOV + dMgO + eXOW] wherein R represents a rare earth element such as Dy; M represents a metal element such as Mn; and X represents a Si-containing sintering aid component). Nickel is solid-solutioned homogeneously into crystal grains, and the solid solution zone of the rare earth element in the crystal grains is 10%% or less on average in terms of the cross sectional area ratio.
