(57) Abstract : The h 1 veuti 0 n relates to au iron extraction process fr 0 n 1 an aqueous acid solution coutahlhlg ferrous ions. The acidic teed solution is first passed to a fluidized bed reactor tbr the oxidation of the ferrous ions preferably by microbes (Lep- tospirilluli1 ferriphilum) to give ferric ions, followed by fl]troduchlg the solution obtained to a concentrator t r the precipitation of a compound containing ferric ions from the solution to give solid matter. The final product, i.e. solid matter containing ferric ions, is collected. In the process, the solution to be treated is passed through the flnidized bed at a flow rare sufficient for effective fin- dization and mixing in the fluidized bed. Further, an apparatus tor perlbrmnig the iron extraction process is claimed. The carrier for the microbes may be activated carbon. |
