PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a highly sensitive assay system which ensures improved sensitivity while maintaining the beneficial aspects of a lateral flow assay.
SOLUTION : As for a chromatographic test system which uses highly sensitive europium particle as a label, the chromatographic assay can give rapid result, conveniently with reasonable sensitivity. Application of a fluorescent rare earth chelate incorporated into a matrix provides the highly sensitive assay system. An analyte detection apparatus has at least one reservoir area and a wicking membrane, wherein a labeled specific binding partner is impregnated on the reservoir area; and a region on the wicking membrane where at least one chemical component is immobilized.
