PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a metal magnetic powder and a magnetic recording medium using the same in which a high density magnetic recording medium having a good preservation stability and a magnetic property is obtained.
SOLUTION : These are the ferromagnetic metal powder including needle-shaped particles of which the long axis length is 0.12 μm or less and the magnetic recording medium using the same; in which content of periodic table group 1a element is reduced to 0.05 wt.% or less, further, residual quantity of periodic table group 2a element that is soluble is reduced to 0.1 wt.% or less, also, which contain aluminum of 0.1 to 30 atom% for sum quantity of a metal element or rare earth group element (Y is included) of 0.1 to 10 atom% for sum quantity of the metal element and the magnetic recording medium using the ferromagnetic metal powder is provided.
