The fiber (1) has a microstructured core (7) having a spatial core symmetry i.e. symmetry plane, and including a dopant i.e. rare-earth ion, distributed within the core, so that the distribution of the dopant in the core breaks the spatial symmetry. The dopant is positioned in a set of doping zones (5, 6) of the core. Each doping zone is distinct and is arranged in order to break the symmetry, where concentration of the dopant is different in each of the doping zones. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a doped optical fiber. |
