A recharge and filter assembly (10) includes a housing (12) with a removable recharge and filter cartridge (142). The housing (12) includes a canister (13) with a re-movable cover (14) allowing access to the cartridge (42). The cartridge (42) includes a filter element (43) comprising a ring of media (45) and upper and lower end caps (50, 52). The upper end cap (50) carries a peripheral seal (86) which provides a fluid-tight seal with the housing canister (13). An annular channel (97) is provided between an annular portion (66) of the upper end cap (50) and the seal (86). An annular support member (100) from the cover (12) is received in the annular channel (97) to support the upper end cap (50). Latching fingers (74) on the upper end cap (50) and a mating ring (78) on the cover (12) removably couple the cartridge (42) to the cover (12). The cartridge (42) further includes a recharge canister (44) supported by tabs (120, 130) on the upper and lower end caps (50, 52). Fluid is recharged by the recharge canister (44), while particulates and other contaminants are removed by the filter media (45). |
