Salt free friction increasing agent for surfaces covered with ice, snow or the like, such as roads, airports, parking lots and sidewalks, comprising a granulated absorber material chosen from the group consisting of water durable silicates, such as calcined diatomaceous earth (CDE), perlite, calcined bentonite and/or calcined clay, or sepiolite and/or naturally occurring zeolites. The agent preferably contains minor amounts of water. The invention also relates to a method for applying the agent to surfaces covered with ice or snow, by which the agent is spread to the surface in question while an amount of water generally corresponding to the absorption limit of the agent is added to the surface simultaneously with the agent or immediately thereafter. |
