PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To reduce the quantity of heavy rare earth elements to be consumed while keeping the coercive force of the conventional series to which the heavy rare earth elements are added. SOLUTION : The rare earth alloy has a composition consisting of, by atom, 11 to 18% R (R is at least one rare earth element selected from rare earth elements including Y), 5 to 12% Q (Q is boron or a mixture of boron and carbon), >0 to 2Fe14B type crystal structure, and M is allowed to enter into solid solution in the primary phase into supersaturated state.
