PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide dielectric ceramic which ensures good temperature characteristics, exerts good dielectric and insulation properties and is excellent in reliability, even when used at high frequency and high voltage. SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic comprises 100 pts.wt. basic component represented by the formula (Ba1-x-ySrxCayO)mTiO2+αMO+βReO3/2(wherein α and β are each a molar ratio; M is chosen from Mn, Ni, Mg and Zn; Re is a specific rare-earth element chosen from Sm, Gd and the like; and 0.30≤x+y≤0.50, 0.30≤x/y≤0.80, 0.950≤m≤1.050, 0.002≤α≤0.30 and 0.002≤β≤0.30) and 0.2-8.0 pts.wt. sintering aid. The crystal grain of the ceramic has a composition represented by the formula (Ba1-x-ySrxCayO)mTiO2, and M, Re and the sintering aid are present at the crystal grain boundary.
