PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To show excellent refrigerating performance for a long period of time.
SOLUTION : A refrigerator uses a cold heat accumulating material for extremely low temperatures which includes magnetic cold heat accumulating particles in which a rate of magnetic cold heat accumulating particles having more than 1.5 form factor R expressed by L2/4πA is not more than 5%. Of this magnetic cold heat accumulating particles, a rate of the particles which are fractured when a compressive stress of 5 MPa is applied thereto, is 0.001-0.840 wt.%, and 70 wt.% or more of the magnetic cold heat accumulating particles have the ratio of the major diameter to the minor diameter of 5 or less, and 70 wt.% or more of the magnetic cold heat accumulating particles have a diameter of 0.01 to 3.0 mm. The magnetic cold heat accumulating particles comprise an intermetallic compound expressed by RMz or ARh, where R represents a predetermined rare earth element, M represents a predetermined metallic element, z represents a number between 0.001 to 9.0.
