A pulsed light generator is provided with an excitation light source, a fiber grating which excitation light from the excitation light source enters, a rare-earth-doped optical fiber which is optically connected to the fiber grating, the core thereof that is an optical transmission portion being doped with a rare-earth element, an optical switch which is provided with a deflection element for a Q-switch operation, a first optical fiber which causes light from the rare-earth-doped optical fiber to enter the optical switch, and a second optical fiber which guides pulsed light outputted from the optical switch. One surface side of the optical switch which light enters is subjected to antireflection treatment in which the reflectivity with respect to the wavelength of the pulsed light outputted from the optical switch is equal to or less than 0.1%, and a low-reflection means, the reflectivity of which with respect to the wavelength of the pulsed light outputted from the optical switch is equal to or more than 1% and equal to or less than 60%, is disposed on the other surface side of the optical switch from which the light is emitted. |
