PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a hydrogen occluding alloy for purifying hydrogen by which hydrogen can be purified and occluded at high speed without causing performance degradation due to carbon monoxide at the time of purification and occlusion of hydrogen, and to provide a method for purifying a hydrogen- containing gas including carbon monoxide by using the same. SOLUTION : The hydrogen occluding alloy for purifying hydrogen is obtained by treating a surface of a rare earth element based AB5 type alloy which causes no performance degradation due to carbon monoxide at 150 to 350 deg.C and at least a part of B site of which is substituted for Al of 0.1 to 1.5 atomic ratio, with a gas or a liquid containing fluorine or a fluorine-containing compound. The method for purifying the hydrogen-containing gas including carbon monoxide uses the hydrogen occluding alloy for purifying hydrogen. |
