PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth metal-based luminescent material that forms various metal ion complexes exhibiting fluorescent colors being the three primary colors of red, green and blue by using the same ligand.
SOLUTION : The rare earth metal complex is represented by general formula (1) (wherein Ln is yttrium or a lanthanoide metal; M is a monovalent cation; and X is an acetate ion or the like) coordinated with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and 5-formylsalicylic acid prepared by the reaction formula.
