PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an adsorbing material constituted by a material reduced as much as possible in environmental load or the effect on the human body and having high adsorbability of oxygen under an almost absolutely dry environment or under reduced pressure.
SOLUTION : A substance obtained by heat-treating a mixture of at least an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal acetate or carbonate and cellulose under a non-oxygen atmosphere is used as the adsorbing material. Since cellulose and the metal salt are not PRTR specified or toxic and drastic substances, they have relatively high safety and develop high oxygen absorbing capacity even under the environment as compared with the case where another metal salt is used.
